I know that ours are tied to our DNA, but Midoriya wasn't born with his. Do you think that's what's going on?

At times it's more than "messed up".
There was a house that had an actual beating heart in it are among the things we've seen and deal with.

yeah, I'm sure he would if it came right down to it. I haven't pushed it too much, it's just training and we're not in midair too often.

Training is fine, at least one of us would be there to train with. But keeping him from risking his life is easier said than done.

It's the hero in all of us that would make us do it, making him realize that his quirk may work against him... All we can do is figure out why it's leaving and coming back. There may be people here who can help. There's a gentleman named 'Kirk'.

He and his friends were doing some tests on my blood, or were going to before things fell apart. Maybe they could do the same for Izuku and once they understand it, could tell us otherwise?

Yes. It does, but it also doesn't seem like there would be any gain to them hurting me, or hurting Midoriya. They seem more interested in helping than not.
